Built for Accuracy. Trained for Strategy. Proven in the Field.

There's a kind of consultancy clients don't encounter very often: one that has both designed the commercial strategy and lived with the consequences of executing it.

That’s KJP

Foundation

KJP’s founder, Matt O’Rourke, began his career as a Stability and Control Engineer at McDonnell Douglas, NASA Langley, and Boeing. That background instilled something that has defined his work ever since: a deep instinct for the difference between precision and accuracy, for rigorous analytical models, and for understanding how complex systems actually behave under real-world conditions.

It's the same instinct he brings to pricing and commercial strategy today.

The Strategic Training

After earning his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Matt joined McKinsey & Company, where he spent seven years — in two separate stints — as a Senior Engagement Manager working with B2B manufacturers and industrial companies on commercial strategy and pricing. McKinsey gave him the analytical framework and the strategic vocabulary — the ability to diagnose complex commercial problems quickly, structure a rigorous approach, and communicate findings in a way that moves organizations.

The Operating Experience

What makes Matt's perspective genuinely unusual is the depth of his operating experience: more than a decade inside two major Fortune 100 industrial companies — Eaton Corporation and Johnson Controls — leading global pricing functions as a member of senior leadership teams.

Different from an external consultant, Matt and his teams were embedded in business unit strategy, analytics, and implementation — owning pricing performance reporting, working alongside BU commercial teams through execution, and refining the approach along the way. He understands what it takes to drive pricing change inside a large, complex organization because he spent years doing it — across capital goods, complex projects, and high-volume, high-SKU-count product lines sold through OEM, distribution, healthcare provider, and retail channels.

Matt’s work also has largely focused on large and mid-market B2B companies across a broad range of industries including Manufacturing, MedTech, Automotive, Aerospace, Energy, Telecommunications, Basic Materials.

KJP Group

Matt founded KJP Group in 2020. The firm works directly with senior leaders and commercial teams to identify and capture margin through pricing excellence, revenue optimization, and the analytical infrastructure needed to sustain it.

Every engagement is led personally by Matt, who leverages the latest tools. What clients get is direct access to someone who has spent 25 years solving exactly the kind of commercial problems they're facing — and who still does the technical work himself. Clients are welcome on the team if they want to build their skills, but it’s not necessary.

Knowledge. Judgement. Profit. That's not just a tagline. It's the sequence.
